Áscúro

Áscúro is the Vampire clan leader readers first meet in "Book 1:  The Heirs of Menonias".  He is a ruthless predator, keen on killing - especially any rival he thinks dares to usurp his position as the last remaining pureblood of his people.  But he is an equally worthless ruler; he hasn't the capacity for true leadership, often leaning on the experience and capabilities of Zago, his second in command.

 

In "Book 3:  Rise of the Shadowkin", Áscúro partners with Ceris to create a "perfect Vampire" capable of withstanding sunblight and being immune to the weaknesses plaguing his people.  He is double-crossed when Ceris works instead to help the Dragon of Death rebuild his strength and retake control of the Vampire nation.
