CHAPTER 17

1. Anamé fúkalík (Uh-nawh-may foo-kuh-leek):  A vulgar Ronsonian expletive rarely used even in rough company.

2. Farær úfor agráv’vou krád tínog andá’a theínamán (Fuh-rayr ooh-fohr uh-grawhv-voh krawhd tee-nawhg ahn-dawh-uh thay-nuh-mawhn):  A Kílha Nashba prayer to their wolf god meant as a blessing on new hunters.

3. House Ayudarós (Ah-yoo-dawh-rowhs):  The ruling noble house of Amédasós Province.

4. Kínu (Kee-noo):  The false identity used by Deryg Kurai.

5. Kírssan (Keer-sawhn):  The singular Ronsonian honorific.

6. Lakeview:  The ancestral home of House Monoleía.

7. Monoleía (mawh-noh-lay-uh):  The ruling noble house of Lykámi Province.

8. Nokásos (Noh-kawh-sowhs):  The noble house ruling over Agrán’Ójo Province; they rule from the castle in Jen-Shokín.

9. Vóno Ashí Province (Dawh-ee Kooh-rawht):  A northern Ronsonian province known for its stonecutting and quarrying work.

10. Xalen Yumvúlí (Zay-lehn Yuhm-voo-lee):  The Lone Wolf of the Night Watch, a mighty warrior of House Hoshóktís; his identifying marker is the wolf face tattoo covering the right half of his face with the eyes overlapping.

11. Yamakaí (Yawh-muh-ky):  The noble house ruling over Vóno Ashí Province.

 

CHAPTER 18

1. Guré (Goo-ray):  The Lord of Wolf’s Run and the head of family for House Hoshóktís.

2. Ílmozáng (Eel-moh-zawhng):  Elvish for “I am real.”

3. L’Avvénd’íl Cadásur (Luh-Uh-vaynd-eel Kuh-dawh-soor):  A painting of Cadásur descending from the heavens created by a Cí-Cennian artist.

4. Óvrír (Owhv-reer):  A spell which means “unlock” in Elvish.

5. Vónder (Vowhn-dehr):  A spell which channels searing heat and fire into an object; it is Elvish for “to burn”.

6. “Watadenwa krosh’tá sekmonú (Wawh-tuh-dehn-wawh krowsht-tawh sehk-moh-noo):  Ronsonian meaning “We are who we choose to be.”

 

CHAPTER 19

1. Anashkí (Uh-nawhsh-kee):  A Ronsonian spell; it translates as “truth”.

2. “Daré tolmá naga katashín to yogo’na Pylstán Drákosh?” (Dawh-reh tohl-mawh kawh-tuh-sheen toh yoh-goh-nuh Pihl-stawhn Drawh-kowsh):  Ronsonian for “What are you doing at Dragon’s Gate?”

3. Ge-Hé (Geh-hay):  The Ronsonian earth goddess.

4. Mago-Shí (Mawh-goh-Shee):  The Ronsonian word for “magic user/mage”.

5. Meno-Ceris:  A portmanteau of Menonias and Ceris hinting the Drakádzu are aware of some of Ceris’ recent undertakings with Menonias’ powers.

6. Mizúlím (Mih-zoo-leem):  A Ronsonian warrior who thinks he recognizes Eíya.

7. Pengo Basílo’ko (Pehn-goh Buh-seel-oh-koh):  The Ronsonian name for Icínq-Régn.

8. Skít’to (Skeet-toh):  A Kílha Nashba expletive meaning “shitty” or “obstinate”.

9. Soranós (Sohr-awh-nowhs):  The Ronsonian Lord of the Sky.

10. Teran’mós tou Lykámi (Teh-rawn-mowhs towh Ly-kawh-mee):  The Temple of the Wolf.

11. Trem’nó (Trehm-nowh):  The Ronsonian god referred to as the King of Beasts.

12. “Watamaste azúmanatolu kara taziken’apo tin.  Watamaste se próshink e aratana kaí Drákosh tame ímpísti.” (Wawh-tuh-mawh-steh awh-zoo-muh-nuh-toh-luh kawh-ruh tuh-zee-kehn-awh-poh tihn Wawh-tuh-mawh-steh she prowh-sheenk eh awhr-uh-tawh-nuh ky Drawh-kowsh tawh-meh eem-pee-stee):  Ronsonian for “We are travelers on a pilgrimage.  We have come to worship Dragons as our faith commands.”

1. Arlanala (Awhr-luh-nawh-luh):  The Halfling representative from Maíga serving on the Counsel of Five/Great Counsel.

2. Arlin (Awhr-lihn):  The Human representative from Mær-D’en serving on the Counsel of Five.

3. Caldor (Kahl-dohr):  The Human representative from Pasco-Dál serving on the Counsel of Five; he was introduced in Book 1.

4. Frell:  The Shadowkin representative from Terrincolto serving on the Counsel of Five.

5. “Kyóla hanatin koí’genlósh?” (Kyowh-luh hawh-nuh-tihn koy-ghen-lowhsh):  Ronsonian for “Can you speak in the common tongue?”

6. “Megída, najiati soreto prostaka íkyotheí?” (Meh-ghee-duh nawh-jee-awh-tee soh-reh-toh prowh-stawh-kuh eek-yoh-thay):  Ronsonian for “Great One, would you like us to kill them?”

7. Oí, Magá (Oy Muh-gawh):  An Elvish expression meaning “Oh, Maker”.

8. Pósnama se lands (Powhz-nawh-muh she lawhndz):  Ronsonian for “Who are you and where are you from?”

9. Shí, Domsún (Shee Dawhm-soon):  Ákrah language for “Yes, Master”.

10. Tempendér, je t’acón (Tehm-pehn-dayr jeh tuh-kowhn):  The spell to summon an Ákrah from its dimension of origin or from a vessel containing the spirit.

11. Warrior Princess:  A pirate ship introduced in Book 2.

12. “Watanóma se Xalen Yumvúlí, no kíshté Hoshóktís, món’lykámi noto nyktér’olggí” (Wawh-tuh-nowh-muh seh Zay-lehn Yuhm-voo-lee noh keesh-tay Hoh-showhk-tees mowhn-ly-kawh-mee noh-toh nihk-tayr-ohl-ghee):  Xalen’s full title and greeting; “I am Xalen Yumvúlí of House Hoshóktís, the Lone Wolf of the Night Watch”.

13. Yanah (Yawh-nawh):  Ronsonian for “stop/halt”.

CHAPTER 22

1. Belaryn (Beh-lahr-ihn):  The Elder Dragon of Knowledge and Wisdom.

2. Kamíd (Kawh-meed):  An enchantment Gavin uses to comfort and heal Asher’s mind.

3. Speru (Speh-roo):  The Dragon bonded with Gavin; her name means “hope”.

CHAPTER 23

1. Arcór (Awhr-kowhr):  The provincial capital of Amédasós Province and the home of Ayudarós House.

2. Ayudarii (I-yoo-dawh-ree):  The familiar reference of the members of House Ayudarós.

3. D’Vád (Duh-Vawhd):  A member of the Ventorbæn.

4. Enkólfé (ehn-kowhl-fay):  An Icínq-Régnian word meaning “bitch”.

5. Fútén (Foo-tayn):  An Icínq-Régnian word meaning “whore”.

6. Karis Ilak (Kah-rihss Ih-luhk):  A former criminal given command of the Ventorbæn; he takes the skulls of his victims as trophies.

7. Témád (Tay-mawhd):  The Elder Dragon of Water introduced in Book 2; she is the Sea King.

8. Tybúr (Ty-boor):  The Icínq-Régnian word for shark.

9. Ventorbæn (Vehn-towhr-bayn):  Ilak’s squad of murderers and thieves; they are used as Ceris’ private assassins.

10. “Watanóma se Oíga, tou Ayudarós somaboku.  Watamaí no ofeímaz ni st’goto Hal daskahán omájani imou.” (Wawh-tuh-nowh-muh she Oy-guh toh I-yoo-dawh-rowhs soh-muh-boh-koo Wawh-tuh-my noh oh-fay-mawhz nee stuh-goh-toh Hal dah-skuh-hawhn oh-mawh-jawh-nee ih-moh):  Ronsonian for “I am the Servant of House Ayudarós.  I am here to collect the tribute from House Hal.”

1. Baífán (By-fawhn):  An Icínq-Régnian expletive meaning “F***”.

CHAPTER 25

1. Avánus (Uh-Vawh-nuhss):  The Elder Dragon of Air who lived inside the Temple of Orman; he was killed by Ith during the events of Book 2.

2. Græko (Gray-koh):  The Elder Dragon of Earth; he makes his home inside the Pasco-Dálian monolith named for him.

3. Ith:  Gavin’s mortal enemy; he was trapped inside the Temple of Orman by Gavin at the end of Book 2.

4. Pyrius (Peer-ee-uhss):  The Elder Dragon of Fire who makes her home inside Vólkus.

5. Vipers:  Dragons corrupted Menonias’ dark magic or mutated by a bite from Ith as the Prime Viper.

 

CHAPTER 26

• Ísnorn (Eez-nohrn):  Kílha Nashba for “ice witch”, or someone who is a cryomancer.

• Sukáta (Soo-kawh-tuh):  A Ronsonian expression of awe; “wow”.

 

CHAPTER 27

1. Gardínadúr (Ghar-dee-nuh-duur):  The bowl-shaped courtyard inside Vónlendír; it means “Garden of the Dead”.

2. Skúlá (Skoo-luh):  A Ronsonian expletive meaning “bitch” and is interchangeable with tsúla.

 

CHAPTER 28

1. Mérfán (Mayr-fawhn):  Icínq-Régnian expletive for “excrement”.

2. Pútacásh (Poo-tuh-cawhsh):  Icínq-Régnian expletive meaning “whorish”.

 

CHAPTER 29 

1. Karas íl Ménas (Kawh-ruhss eel May-nuhss):  Ceris’ true name before changing it to enter politics.
2. Mánd’áv (Mawhnd-awhv):  A Mítzrâni diplomat sent to Cí-Cen to negotiate the Republic’s recent slave trade.

3. Ménas íl Sagáth (May-nuhss eel Suh-gawhth):  Menonias’ true name.

4. “Rafídamón porteíy’án kívarel.  Portamené íl garisa’ar órmaneí.”  (Ruh-fee-duh-mowhn pohr-tay-awhn kee-vuh-rehl Pohr-tuh-mehn-ay eel guh-rih-suh-awhr owhr-muh-nay):  Elvish for “Quickly summon a healer.  Summon the Queen’s advisor.”
5. Sagáth (Suh-gawhth):  The Dark Elf who sired Menonias.
6. Temple of Orman (Ohr-muhn):  An ancient pyramid built in honor of the Elf progenitor, Orman; it is permanently linked with the Source and was Avánus stronghold as the Dragon Elder of Air.

7. Yuk’yán (Yook-yawhn):  The Ronsonian diplomat sent to help broker the slave trade between Cí-Cen and the Mítzrâni. 

 

CHAPTER 30

1. Aínfd’át aldúbi’alzím (Iynf-duh-awht ahl-doo-bih-ahl-zeem):  Mítzrâni for “The Uprising of the Great Bear”.

2. Anipoi (Ah-nih-poy):  Ronsonian for “nephew”.

3. Annár íf alma’á (Ah-nawhr eef awhl-muh-awhr):  A Mítzrâni incantation for “fire and water”.

4. Ardfæ Malkálzma (Awhrd-fay Mahl-kawhlz-muh):  The vessel of the Mítzrâni royal family.

5. Conazzaté (Kowh-nuh-zawh-tay):  Elvish for “Is that so?”

6. Háli’án aflashayán lekídma dálmír (Hawh-lee-awhn ah-fluh-shay-awhn leh-keed-muh dawhl-meer):  Mítzrâni for “How shall I serve my prince?”

7. Hamák ahíz yamír.  Y’jáb azel? (Huh-mawhk uh-heez yuh-meer Yuh-jawhb uh-zehl):  Mítzrâni for “Your bath is ready my prince.  Anything else?”

8. Holem (Hoh-lehm):  The crowned prince of the Mítzrâni Empire.

9. Holem’amír. Náha takriba’an íla’alnuníf. (Hoh-lehm-uh-meer Nawh-hah tah-krih-buh-ahn eel-uh-ahl-noo-neef):  Mítzrâni for “Prince Holem, we have reached our destination.”

10. Ja’íd (Juh-eed):  Mítzrâni for “Good”.

11. La.  Kad t’dab lirahád (Lah Kahd tuh-dahb leer-uh-hawhd):  Mítzrâni for “No.  Return to the harem”.

12. Minfalkí arsúm liháma. (Mihn-fahl-kee awhr-soom lih-hawh-muh):  Mítzrâni for “Draw me a bath”.

13. Na’ab (Nuh-awhb):  Captain of the Ardfæ Malkálzma.

14. R’Shay Vín (Ruh-Shay Veen):  The Farfellian demon of gluttony powering G’Venna’s talisman.

15. S’Bé (Suh-Bay):  Holem’s favorite from his harem of Human female slaves.

16. Selene et Zilanespomá (eht Zih-luhn-eh-spowh-mawh):  Another name/title for Queen Selene.
