Avánus

The Air Elder of the Dragons is the first Dragon Gavin meets at the start of "Book 2:  The Destiny of Dragons".  Avánus spent the last two-and-a-half centuries locked away inside the antechamber of the Temple of Orman; he was responsible for resurrecting the Dragonmyst.

Avánus is able to harness and manipulate the elemental power of air which is also tethered to the primal energies of all life on earth.  Despite this, he in incapable of flight, having his right wing crippled defending many of his fellow Dragons from Menonias' assault on the Nests.  He and Gavin bond over their shared losses and grief.
